Masquerade, The Beginning...

  • It’s been 21 years of Masquerade and the Story I am starting to tell nowis far from over! In fact, as my dear friend & Ex-Publisher of “Corporate Entertainer Magazine” says below in his piece, I’m the Man Cub, Mowgli, from the Event Jungle Book who has just “Turned 50 and Come of Age at 21”. Guess that’s the beauty of both Longevity and Hindsight too, eh?

Who would have guessed that when I once created the fun Maxim “Expect The Unexpected!” that I would have been using it to demonstrate the very self-same sentiments?

So here I am, once again before you in December thanks to the Longevity of Masquerade.  I knew it would make good reading and be a revealing, no-holes barred Testament to the Life and Times of Ade, DR M, and of course, Masquerade.

So I’ll let Alan Summers kick-off with what he has to say about this mad bad boy and preface the serializations...although by his own account “I JUST WANNA BE LIKE YOU!” I’ll have the last word though (as always!!) and tell you more about what’s to come over the coming months both online in the serialisationsas  as I “Entertain You!” between now and 2013 in my own inimitable fashion!!

Alan Summers, over to you now Sir…..

"And so after 21 Years and several Interviews I meet the Man again, or should I say the Man Cub, for he is definitely like something out of a Fairytale Story, a wonderful world where reality meets fantasy. This piece should actually begin ‘Once Upon a Time….’

But how the Man has matured although the boyish twinkles in his eyes are still there, as he recalls with me many of our “Do you remember when’s?”. But beneath the humour and a lost unreal enthusiasm I found a wonderful, kind, sincere Individual, one who cares, not only about his Business but also about his Industry and the Business Leaders of the Pack. He loves with a passion all that is Entertainment.

He is well-known and respected within his field and as many people I have spoken to over the years say, “now that’s what we call a party”, a typical Adrian happening. No stone is left unturned as he strives for the best. Above all, it is his clients that sing his praises because he goes that extra mile.

It goes without saying that he adores his partner Karen and the Silas Kids, because Adrian is all about Family and hisFfriends. That is what makes him tick and as a Business Friend for many years, I cherish this warmth. The many years have taught me that this warmth is long-lasting and very sincere.

He has developed a fine Business which I have watched grow over the past years. Now it has reached it’s 21st Year and 'Comes of Age', we the watching Public, have to admire hisAachievements and his Successes. Never afraid to go full out and Produce an Event that no one would expect, he has the ability to see 'Outside the Box' and go one better. I believe his Adverts say ‘Expect the Unexpected’. They are no doubt correct. In my opinion he has a rare commodity , one that shows his strength for purpose and the depth of perfection he seeks.

I cannot say how thrilled I am after all this time to be asked to write something about The Man from Masquerade. I consider this an Honour after all the years we have known each other. Perhaps the Adrian I have known has grown-up. Not in a stuffy way, but he is now at the Top of his Game. He has been through the highs and lows and now just exudes confidence. I am honored that he still looks to me for approbation of his current standing in the Industry and any ideas he has and wishes to Promote for the Future.

So here is to The Man who has just turned 50 as his Business Comes of Age at 21. May the future always be bright for him and his family and he always be blessed with this amazing ‘Joie de Vivre’ which we can all be part of.

The Man Cub has grown up, but like ‘Jungle Book’, he is Timeless. His expertise, enthusiasm, and caring no know boundaries. He really strips everything down to the ‘Bare Necessities’. No waffle. Adrian, perhaps we all want to be a little like 'You Hoo-Hoo!"

When I sit down to do the next Interview, who knows, I suppose I will start it as “Once upon a Time...AGAIN!"

ALAN SUMMERS, Publisher Corporate Entertainer Magazine.

So I continue here....And of course, it’s a humbling moment in your Life and Times when somebody says such kind and gracious things about you, so I’m very indebted to Alan for his sentiments that touch a very poignant and personal note for me particularly, especially in view of the fact that he still regards me as a person of Worth...many other would simply say... ADRIAN: HE’S MAD!

So what else is to come now for the Follow-Up Serialisations in the Online Format I hear you ask....Well, that’s a “Strict Secret!” between Me, Myself & I, but I can, and will, give you a Hint & Taste of what I’m planning as in effect the first few pieces are the start of the Ade and DR M Memoirs that are currently being written by me..."EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED: My Life & Times as The Joker of Masquerade!"

The Stories & Anecdotes will take you from the very Start of Masquerade back in 1990 as an “After-Dinner” Joke & Dare! Through the Middle Years and the building of both the Event Business, the Client Base and of course the Up’s and Down’s too! Finally the story will come full-circle to the last year when Masquerade turned 21 Years old whilst I hit the Big 50, all within two months of each other! 2012 and beyond are the future....you can share my Vision for 25 Years and the Silver Anniversary of Masquerade! What a party that will be eh?! EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!

If you have enjoyed the read here today and are smiling at the pictures too and thinking that you want MORE MORE MORE....then Lock-and-Load and Buckle-in-Tight for the next year ahead now, and other Stories and recounted Anecdotes to follow! Alan Summers said “Once Upon a Time...” and that would be the most appropriate way to describe the story, My Story, as it is and has been and still will be when Masquerade turns 25 years old in 2015:

"EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED...My Life and Times as The Joker of Masquerade!"

Adrian Silas aka DR M.
